Gear for Guys: Allen Edmonds Dalton Boots from Granger Owings

Gentlemen: Fall is here. That means it's time to put the flip-flops up. I'm looking at you, Charleston. Just for a few months, anyway. The weather is cooling down, but that doesn't mean everyone is running inside.

On the contrary, the fall brings people outdoors. There's Oktoberfest events, oyster roasts, outdoor fires with friends, shooting events, football tailgates, etc. Just because Columbia stops being "Famously Hot" doesn't mean it cools off.

Accordingly, you're going to need some footwear. Now, if you're a guy like me, you hate something that  you can only use for only one thing, but nothing else (single use items). That's where I'm here to show you the best thing for your fall closet. It's comfortable enough to go with jeans and a sweater by the fire, it's tough enough to go with your shooting jacket in the brush, and it's classy enough to go with your suit on Monday morning. Also, as an added bonus for you single guys, it's going to wow the ladies.

Intrigued? Even better, you can get it right here in Columbia. Click below to see the rest below the jump and be amazed.

Ok, bad news up front. It's expensive. But, we're talking about a serious shoe. This isn't a tennis shoe that you're going to go through after months of workouts and roadwork. This is a shoe you're going to own for the rest of your life. It's timeless.

Now, the first thing you're thinking is I can't wear that with a suit! This isn't Dallas! Oh, really? Well here's what it looks like in my tan suit pants that I wear to court regularly.

That's a wingtip, my boy. I can (and do) rock this in Court with my tan suit or my navy blue suit on a regular basis, and it's all good. It's perfect for a Courthouse day. On the other hand, if you want to go shoot a little Five Stand on a Saturday, this slides perfectly into that role. Throw on some jeans, your favorite shooting vest, and these boots are exactly what you want; supportive, comfortable, and tough.

Here's the same boot, on it's way to go dust some clays in Camden.

The nice thing is that these aren't heavy boots. They're more like high ankle shoes, but they work just fine for a day tromping through fields in pursuit of Mr. Bob. They would also be just at home in the Vista.

In any event, these are shoes that will serve you well throughout the fall and into the winter, such as it is here in the Carolinas. You can get them from D.R. Granger right here on Main Street in the Capitol City at Granger-Owings. If you go, tell him that you heard it from Permanent Press. They'll treat you right.
