“It’s hard to argue that opposing marriage equality is a central tenet of Christianity when majorities of Christian voters support same-sex marriage.”

Says Sally Kohn, writing in The Daily Beast.

Whoa! Same-sex marriage and government's role in it aside, when did the central tenets of Christianity become determined by poll results? Did I miss a meeting where the Pope decided that Christianity's tenets would just be whatever the poll numbers showed most Christians wanted to go with?

I'm pretty sure Moses didn't take poll of all the Israelites when he came down off Mt. Sinai and saw them worshiping the golden calf.

You know, I read these kinds of pieces, and it's obvious that the kulturkampf war is over on this issue. However, unsatisfied with claiming the field, the victors are now in full "mop-up" duty, going around and humiliating and shooting the survivors on the other side.

Confessions of an Englishman: I hate American soccer fans

Over the years, I've been angered, saddened and ashamed by these things. But through it all, my love for soccer remained undimmed.

But lately, I've discovered there's a new scourge on my beloved game that I simply cannot tolerate: Americans.
He doesn't really need to worry, though. As soon as the World Cup is over, 99% of all the Americans watching soccer will go back to not watching it.

The Great Gay Marriage Cake Debacle of 2014

Our long, national nightmare is over. Gay couples will continue to be free to continue having wedding cakes for their weddings. The Great Gay Marriage Cake Debacle of 2014™ is now over.

I was not aware that there was a rash of bakers out there refusing to bake people cakes.

Maybe it was all just a big misunderstanding. Maybe the gay couple didn't tell the baker that they were coming over for a cake. According to my sources, this sort of thing happens all the time.

Also, this is another reason why pie is better than cake. You never hear about pie getting involved in this sort of thing.
