Florida State vs. Auburn (My Pick)

It's a beautiful backdrop in Southern California, perfect for the last game of the season. It's also the last BCS Championship ever. Next year will be the first year of the playoffs, so there's a special quality to this game.

Auburn has gotten here due to some magical plays down the stretch. Some people are calling them the "Team of Destiny". Florida State has gotten here by beating the snot out of what is admittedly a weaker schedule than most. However, they're for real.

I don't know if the Auburn magic will continue for one more game, or if Florida State will continue their dominance, but we should be in for a good one.

Relax, crack open a cold one, and enjoy the majesty of this beautiful game. For a die hard football fan, it's really nice to be able to watch a game without really having too much stake in the outcome. My new brother-in-law has Auburn in his family, and my mom has some Florida State in hers.

Being a good southern boy, I'll go with my mama and the Seminoles.

College Football Is Kinda Silly

Because things like this happen and will have massive implications.

Seriously. Auburn won the game because of this. I still can't believe it.

I'm sorry, Georgia. No one should lose a game like this. That's just cruel. It's also proof that the football gods have a sense of humor.

SEC East Predictions For Week 12

Morning, y'all. Let's do this thing.

Two big games in the SEC East today: The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry (Georgia at Auburn) is the 3:30 CBS game, and the nightcap will be Florida coming to South Carolina at 7:00PM.

Both of these games will go a long way towards deciding the winner of the SEC East this year. Georgia faces a must win situation on the Plains today. If Georgia loses to Auburn, they can pretty much give up home of going to Atlanta.

Auburn faces a similar "must win" situation, as they're trying to keep pace with undefeated Alabama. The Auburn Tigers are hoping they can get into the Iron Bowl with only one loss and try to knock off Bama. Doing so would punch Auburn's ticket to Atlanta. Look for a great game today out on the Plains. Permanent Press Prediction: I'm not a believer in Georgia's defense, so I think Auburn grinds out a close win on the ground. Georgia 20 - Auburn 27

South Carolina concludes conference play tonight against a beat-up Florida team. If South Carolina can start fast, Florida will have no chance to win this game. The only way Florida wins is if the Gamecocks have multiple turnovers to give a totally inept Florida offense a short field. Permanent Press Prediction: South Carolina doesn't turn the ball over and wins comfortably. Florida 13 - South Carolina 38, and Cocky gets a kiss.

If South Carolina wins, they'll finish 6-2 in conference play, which coupled with a Georgia loss to Auburn, would put a lot of pressure on Missouri to win their two remaining games against Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Mizzou is a great team, but those are two tough opponents.

Do You Need to "Tame" Your Southern Accent?

An Auburn graduate (of all people) can help you smooth out the rough edges of your southern accent.

I guess there are some Southerners who are taunted by non-Southerners, and that makes them want to try and eliminate what they perceive to be a flaw. I guess I'm just more self-confident (or maybe I don't venture out of Columbia much) but I wouldn't try to change my accent for anything. Being Southern means that we are warm, welcoming, and our accents reflect that.

If your Yankee boss doesn't like it, then you can impress him with your actual skill and knowledge. Also, if you're a Southerner in an office full of non-Southerners, they're probably jealous that your accent makes you unique.
