The team went through some drills before the scrimmage with the offense running seven-on-seven skeletons down around the 20 of the South endzone while the linemen worked at the 20 of the North endzone.
Clowney was working in well with the line, and he seemed to be just as big, just as strong, and just as good as all the other veterans. Maybe it's the hype, but he draws your attention when he's out there.
Once the scrimmage started, the problems began for Garcia. Right out of the gate, he threw a pick, missed his second pass badly, and then threw what should have been another pick (hitting the DB directly in the hands). Following that, the offense kind of sputtered along here and there without much to show. Here's Andrew Clifford getting some reps (No Shaw, he's still hurt).
All in all, a very disappointing practice for the offense. You may just chalk this up to the fact that no starting WRs were in there as a group, and no Lattimore. We'll see how things progress, but today wasn't much fun for the offensive guys. Hopefully, this is just a hiccup, but it was certainly a reality-check for me. This Gamecock team is just as capable of breaking your heart as the ones all the years before. Things look bright, but there's always the sudden clunker of a game out there. Will this be the year that USC avoids it?
